Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program Information
The Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCP) is sponsored by the Office of Personnel Management and supported by John Hancock Life and Health Insurance Company. The FLTCP was passed by Congress in 2000 under the Long-Term Care Security Act. Beginning in 2002, it has offered Long Term Care Insurance to federal and US Postal Service workers and annuitants, active and retired members of the uniformed service and their qualified family members. Some of the services that are included are formal and informal care for home health care, assisted living, nursing home care, adult day care and hospice care.
The Federal Program is the largest employer-sponsored Long Term Care Insurance program in the US with 224,000 enrollees. (1.)
