Texas Long Term Care Partnership Program

 

The state of Texas and private Long Term Care Insurance companies have worked together to develop the Texas Long Term Care Insurance Partnership Program, which is an incentive for Texans to plan for their long term care needs. There are currently several companies that are selling Texas Partnership Policies, in which these companies have to follow certain state and federal guidelines to sell these policies. These policies have an asset disregard benefit, where policyholder can keep their assets should they apply for Medicaid after depleting their Long Term Care Insurance benefits. Therefore, for every dollar paid by the TX Partnership policy equals a dollar of assets that will be disregarded towards eligibility for Medicaid so policyholders will not have to spend down their assets.
